Holland Track Management Plan
Preamble
The Department of Conservation and Land Management (DEC) through its Kalgoorlie, Merredin and Narrogin offices has jurisdiction over the area through which the modern track runs. Track Care WA Inc (TCWA) is dedicated to the care and preservation of four-wheel drive tracks and their environs in WA. The WA 4WD Association is the peak body of member four-wheel drive clubs (including the Toyota Land Cruiser Club of WA) in WA.
The Toyota Land Cruiser Club of WA Inc (TLCC) is a volunteer organisation for drivers of four-wheel drive vehicles providing social activities, training and fellowship so members may fully enjoy their vehicles. The Club encourages a positive attitude towards off-road environmental conservation.
Within the context and consistent with the roles of the above organisations the Toyota Land Cruiser Club of WA Inc has adopted the Holland Track volunteering to provide ongoing care and maintenance.
TLCC Undertakings
- To develop a code of ethics outlining preferred options to be followed by those using the Holland Track (HT).
- To promote the code of ethics outlining preferred options by:
- Use of signs produced in conjunction with TCWA.
- Promotion on the TLCC website.
- Promotion through TCWA and WA 4WD Association.
- Promotion to travellers seeking information from TLCC.
- To travel the HT at least once per year and undertake clean up and maintenance in line with DEC objectives such as:
- Remove fallen trees from track and obstruct by pass tracks
- Perform track repairs where it is practical to perform such work using hand tools.
- Restore any fences and bollards used to protect environmentally sensitive areas.
- Restore signs to the current standard and install new signs to current standards where realignment of tracks introduces ambiguity.
- To report to DEC maintenance which may be required for sustainability of the track but is beyond the scope of the TLCC resources.
- To assist DEC with any new developments to the HT that enhance its use as a four wheel drive experience or protect the fragile environment.
- To provide information to people wishing to travel the HT and seek feedback from travellers of the HT. The TLCC believes this needs to be broadly advertised to a wide range of interested people. If the WA 4WD Association and TCWA wish to promote this exchange of information the TLCC offers to act as a point of contact via the TLCC web site.
TLCC Expectations from DEC
The TLCC appreciates the support from DEC in its adoption of the HT and wishes to continue the mutual exchange of information.
The TLCC as a member of both TCWA and the WA 4WD Association expects the courtesies as expressed in the Memorandum of Understandings between DEC and TCWA, DEC and WA 4WD Association to be extended to TLCC.
TLCC Expectations from TCWA and WA 4WD Association
Support from TCWA and the WA 4WD Association is appreciated by the TLCC. As the adoption of the HT by the TLCC is being done in the interests of TCWA and the WA 4WD Association the TLCC seeks free flow of information and recognition as a reference on the HT.
